FMC Quicksilver Herbicide

Description:FMC Quicksilver is a fast-acting, post-emergence herbicide that effectively controls a broad spectrum of broadleaf weeds and some grass species. Its active ingredient, Carfentrazone-ethyl, works by disrupting the photosynthesis process in plants, leading to rapid desiccation and eventual plant death. Quicksilver is designed for use in a variety of agricultural crops, turf management, and other non-crop areas, providing flexibility in weed management programs.

Benefits:

  • Fast Acting: Provides rapid visible results, often within hours to days.

  • Broad-spectrum control: Effectively targets numerous broadleaf weeds and some grasses.

  • Reduced Crop Injury: Safe for most crops when applied according to label instructions.

  • Minimal Residual Activity: Quicksilver breaks down quickly in the soil, minimizing the risk of crop rotation restrictions.

  • Low Use Rates: Effective weed control at lower application rates compared to many other herbicides.

  • Versatile Application: Can be used on turf, agricultural crops, and other non-crop areas.

Weeds Controlled:Quicksilver is effective against a range of broadleaf weeds, including:

  • Common lambsquarters

  • Pigweed species (e.g., redroot pigweed, smooth pigweed)

  • Ragweed species (e.g., common ragweed, giant ragweed)

  • Purslane

  • Velvetleaf

  • Morningglory species

  • Thistles (e.g., Canada thistle, bull thistle)

  • Dandelions

  • Shepherd’s purse

  • Groundsel

  • Pigweed

  • Horseweed (marestail)

  • Various other annual and perennial broadleaf weeds

Application Rates:

  • Use Rate: 0.9 to 2.1 fl. oz. per acrea.

Restrictions:

  • Rainfastness: Do not apply if rain is expected within 1 hour after application for optimal efficacy.

  • Rotation Crop Restriction: Some crops may have rotation restrictions based on the application rate and timing. Refer to the label for specific restrictions.

  • Avoid Drift: Do not apply during windy conditions to prevent drift onto sensitive plants or water sources.

  • Buffer Zones: Maintain proper buffer zones as outlined on the label to prevent contamination of non-target areas.

  • Re-entry Interval (REI): Do not re-enter treated areas for at least 12 hours after application unless PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn.

Safety:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate protective gear, including long-sleeve shirts, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves, and eye protection during mixing and application.

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • Spill Handling: In the event of a spill, contain the spill to prevent contamination and clean up promptly. Refer to the product label for detailed instructions.

  • Toxicity: Quicksilver has a relatively low toxicity to mammals, but it can cause harm to aquatic life. Ensure applications are made in accordance with safety guidelines to avoid environmental harm.
