UPI Aquathol K: Aquatic Herbicide
Description:UPI Aquathol K is a highly effective aquatic herbicide formulated with the active ingredient Endothall. It is designed to control a wide variety of aquatic weeds in freshwater environments, including submerged and floating vegetation. Aquathol K is commonly used in lakes, ponds, irrigation canals, reservoirs, and other water bodies to maintain clear and healthy water ecosystems.
Active Ingredient:
Endothall (40.3%) — A systemic herbicide that targets the root systems and foliage of aquatic plants, ensuring thorough and long-lasting control.
Benefits:
Broad-spectrum control: Effective against a variety of aquatic weeds, including species like Eurasian watermilfoil, hydrilla, and water hyacinth.
Systemic action: Absorbed by plants, providing long-term control by disrupting cellular processes, leading to plant death.
Targeted application: Can be used to treat both submerged and floating plants, making it versatile in addressing different types of aquatic vegetation issues.
Rapid results: Visible plant damage can often be seen within a few days after treatment.
Minimal impact on aquatic animals: When used as directed, Aquathol K is generally safe for fish, wildlife, and other aquatic organisms.
Application Rates:
Slow Moving Water: Apply 0.45 to 3.2 gallons per acre-foot of water, depending on the severity of the infestation.
Application Method:
Aquathol K is a contact herbicide; consequently, apply when target plants are present.
Aquathol K may be sprayed on the water or injected below the water surface. It may be applied as a concentrate or diluted with water depending on the equipment.
In instances where the plant(s) to be controlled is an exposed surface problem (i.e., some of the broad-leaved pond weeds), coverage is important. For best results, apply the concentrate with the least amount of water compatible with the application equipment.
Restrictions:
Do not exceed the recommended application rates. Overuse may result in adverse effects on non-target vegetation and wildlife.
Avoid applications near drinking water sources or water used for irrigation, unless permitted by local regulations.
Do not apply during fish spawning periods to minimize the risk of disrupting aquatic life cycles.
Use only in freshwater environments; not intended for use in brackish or saltwater environments.
Re-entry intervals: Wait at least 24 hours after application before allowing contact with treated water.
Safety:
Personal protective equipment (PPE): Wear long-sleeved clothing, rubber gloves, and protective eyewear when handling and applying the product.
Environmental precautions: Keep away from waterways and ensure proper disposal of any unused product or rinse water to avoid contamination.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and keep containers tightly closed when not in use.
Emergency procedures: In case of accidental exposure or ingestion, follow safety data sheet (SDS) instructions and seek medical attention immediately if necessary.
By following the recommended application guidelines, UPI Aquathol K provides a safe and efficient solution for managing aquatic weed growth, promoting the overall health and clarity of water bodies.
